PR account executive (editorial)

The role

Salary £21,000-£24,000 dependent on experience

Following a period of growth Prominent is recruiting for a PR Account Executive who has an interest specifically in copywriting and media relations.

You may be an ex-journalist looking to make the move into PR, or a copywriter who knows how to write effective copy for the media.

Your working hours will be 9am – 5pm with evening and weekend working as required. You will be based primarily at the Prominent base in Felixstowe but will be required to work in-house at some of our clients’ places of work from time to time so a car is essential.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a lively, energetic and enthusiastic candidate who has a 'can do' approach.
  • Have the ability to learn quickly, work as part of a team, handle a number of tasks at the same time, and be able to prioritise tasks
  • Have exceptional writing skills
  • Have a willingness to succeed, will be proactive and take pride in their work
  • Be an ambitious player with a hard work ethic who is keen to progress their career
  • Be able to produce a wide range of high quality written material within a tight deadline
  • Be a confident practitioner with an ability to work proactively and with minimal supervision.
  • Have good time and workload management skills - must be a strong multi-tasker.
  • Be a good team player who is willing to learn from team members and who can take constructive criticism

 

You'll be expected to:

  • Work across a number of accounts from different sectors using a full range of PR skills
  • Work as part of a press office team dealing with reactive media enquiries
  • Liaise on a daily basis with clients and the media, often via telephone and email
  • Understand PR strategy, target audiences and PR tactics suitable for clients
  • Build strong relationships and networks with colleagues, clients and the media
  • Monitor the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for clients
  • Prepare regular client reports including coverage analysis and evaluation and attend client meetings
  • Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media
  • Write regular blogs, editorials and features
  • Promote news stories and features to the media, known as 'selling in'
  • Collate, analyse and evaluate media coverage
  • Be reactive and able to spot a PR opportunity, turning it round in a quick timeframe
  • Undertake digital PR including writing and building e-newsletters
