Christmas is just around the corner, and with it comes the long-anticipated Christmas adverts.
This year, some brands have pulled out all the stops, creating campaigns that range from a dinner table mystery to the return of everyone’s favourite festive carrot.
Here are our top five Christmas adverts of 2024 (so far!).
Sainsbury’s takes us on a trip down memory lane this year with a campaign that shows beloved Roald Dahl character the BFG, alongside its real-life supermarket worker, Sophie.
The advert shows the supermarket help the giant make his Christmas “a bit more phizz-whizzing”.
The pair go on a journey locating all of the goods on offer this Christmas at the retailer, showing their growing friendship.
The launch of the ad marks the second year of Sainsbury's commitment to provide 'Good food for all of us' – offering access to innovative and affordable, great-tasting food for every customer.
Etsy’s ad based around the classic children’s book “Where’s Wally?” is really heartfelt.
It shows Wally wandering around town in his iconic red and white striped top, talking about how he loves crowds but wishes people would stop asking “Where’s Wally?” and instead as “Who’s Wally?”.
The advert closes with him meeting a woman also wearing the red and white striped top, passing him a gift.
Wally says while being passed a gift: “Sometimes, it takes someone who really knows you… to make you feel seen.”
The pocket compass is engraved with "I’m glad I found you. - Wenda".
This creative and heartfelt campaign highlights Etsy’s commitment to showcasing real sellers and the connections their handcrafted items foster.
Kevin the Carrot is back!
This year, Aldi’s beloved mascot takes us on a hilarious festive journey, complete with snowball fights, daring escapes and, of course, plenty of carrots.
Kevin is called upon once again on Christmas Eve to go on an Impossible Mission to free the Christmas spirit that Dr Humbug has stolen!
By the end of the advert, even the Humbugs have learnt that “Christmas is better when goodwill is returned”.
With clever nods to classic Christmas movies, this lighthearted advert captures the fun of the season.
Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the iconic M&S adverts, and this year they’ve sprinkled in a little extra magic – literally!
With Dawn French reprising her role as the delightful Christmas Fairy, the campaign takes a hilariously unexpected twist as she discovers magic isn’t as exclusive as she thought.
Cue a chaotic yet enchanting impromptu party hosted by none other than Fairy herself, proving that even the most unexpected moments can be saved with a touch of magic and some M&S Food, of course.
The tagline reminds us why M&S continues to stand out: “This is not just Christmas...”
It’s a celebration of the quintessential hostess and a gentle nudge to elevate our festive spreads to magical levels.
Taking the crown this year for us is Waitrose’s lighthearted, festive mystery story centred around their No.1 Red Velvet Bauble Dessert.
The plot unfolds as a family gathers for Christmas, but there’s a twist—someone has stolen the star dessert!
The advert cleverly combines humour, charm, and the magic of Christmas to promote Waitrose's holiday offerings.
Not only did Waitrose leave us on a cliffhanger, but they created a dedicated website page with alibis and where you could vote for the culprit!
