Looking back on 2022

The end of another year always brings with it a time for reflection; looking back at our successes and challenges over the previous 12 months, but also the opportunity to look forward and plan for a new year of potential.

As we gear up for the festive period, Prominent’s managing director Helen Rudd looks back at what 2022 brought for the team and what is on the horizon in 2023.

There are so many words I could use to sum up 2022. For every success we enjoyed, we faced a challenge. Every time we laughed as a team, we then faced a time of sadness together.

But the one constant that has underwritten the whole of 2022 is “teamwork”. And that teamwork has delivered some incredible results for our clients.

Never before have I been part of such a tight knit group, working together towards the same goal, supporting each other and going the extra mile, both personally and professionally.

Individually and collectively we’ve grown and the PR results we’ve achieved have helped our clients grow too.

I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved as a team in 2022. We end the year on a high, with a number of new clients primed and ready to start work with us in January.

A new internal structure will strengthen and improve our client offering and allow people to do what they are best at, ensuring that everyone feels happy, supported and stretched at work – which is what Prominent is all about.

A year in review

Spring brought with it three new clients; Hey Girls, Suffolk Mind and Seamans Building – and it is safe to say they have become firm favourites here at Prominent.

Keira finished off the year attending a glittering national awards do with her client Hey Girls in December, supporting them as they picked up an SEUK award for “tech for good”. It was the perfect opportunity to celebrate together and acknowledge the incredible work they do, but also the successful client relationship which has blossomed in 2022.

The end of the year has brought another influx of new clients including Cora, Portland Clinical and St Joseph’s College – along with one we are keeping close to our chest at the moment (keep tuned in for the big reveal next year!).

We’re thoroughly enjoying getting to know them all and building solid working relationships which will prosper and bloom we’re sure in 2023.

We were excited to get the Ladies in Property Suffolk (LiPS) networking event back up and running again in October for the first time in nearly three years, and we look forward to a bumper year of events in 2023.

A team working together

Our ranks were swelled further in October when the lovely Symone joined us as creative executive. Already she is impressing us with her hard work, enthusiasm and creativity. We are excited to see her achieve great things in 2023.

Lauren re-joined the team after maternity leave and we were very happy to have her back – a much loved colleague but also critical to the success of Will Aid 2022! This year we managed to secure media mentions from Martin Lewis on both his ITV show (twice), as well as on Good Morning Britain and This Morning. These meant we surpassed will maker enquiries generated last year – a huge win for the team!

We had a number of reasons to let our hair down in the summer months – our staff social event saw us attempt to throw axes (terribly in my case) at the Boom Battle Bar in Ipswich before enjoying food and drinks at the Botanist. The team then danced the night away at Keira’s wedding to Jonny in July – a stunningly beautiful day at the gorgeous Hungarian Hall.

Determined to undertake some professional development for myself, I signed up for some business coaching sessions with the lovely Lucy Everett. Lucy taught me a number of important lessons which have helped shape me this year, including remembering to be grateful and proud of myself – and crucially as a mum of a two-year-old – that self-care and “me time” is healthy and not selfish.

Team changes (saying a sad goodbye to the amazing Abi, Heidi and Emily) meant we needed some new corporate photos, so on the most beautifully sunny day in November, the brilliant Sarah Lucy Brown came to “shoot us” and we are absolutely thrilled with the stunning results.

We ended the year on a high at our Christmas staff social, celebrating some promotions, Grace’s engagement to Josh and Adam’s 40th birthday with drinks and food at The Forge… Before cocktails and dancing into the small hours!

And for me… Well, I’m looking forward to being back at work full time from January and seeing what 2023 holds for Prominent.

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved this year, despite the challenges we’ve all faced. As the famous quote goes:

Bring on 2023.
