A leading PR firm has employed its second male staff member in just two months.
Suffolk-based marketing company Prominent, formerly an all-female team, has appointed Adam Howlett as its latest PR Account Executive.
Adam Joins Sam Darr who started working for the business in September.
Adam, formerly a newspaper reporter, said: “I always wanted to pursue a career in writing and the media. My father was managing editor at BBC Radio Suffolk so was a real inspiration to me.
“When I left my previous job in journalism, I was ready to explore different options. PR always seemed like a career that not only involved writing but had a wide variety of other roles within it.
“So, when I saw online that Prominent were recruiting, I was eager to apply and thrilled when I was offered a position.”
Adam studied a BA (Hons) degree in Sociology: Media, Culture and Society at the University of Essex before training as a journalist at News Associates in Wimbledon, London.
He then left his home in Suffolk for a job working for a national news agency in Birmingham.
Eager to return home to be closer to his family, Adam qualified as a senior journalist at the Bury Free Press in Bury St Edmunds before taking a position at the East Anglian Daily Times as a senior reporter.
“I am excited to have joined the team, and hope that I can bring what I have learnt in journalism to the world of PR and expand my knowledge. I am already learning new things every day and it is enjoyable to work on different projects and experience things from a PR point of view.”
Adam boasts more than 10 years’ experience working at newspapers and will be working with a diverse range of clients in a range of sectors.
Ellen Widdup, Editorial Director at the company and also a former EADT journalist, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Adam to the team at Prominent. Adam brings with him a great set of copywriting skills and we hope we can expand on his skill set by teaching him new PR skills. He is already a remarkable writer and a creative thinker, so we are delighted that he has joined the team at Prominent.”
