As we reach the end of yet another successful year here at Prominent, MD Helen takes a look back over the past twelve months, picking out her highlights

“In September we won an award. It was ‘Outstanding PR agency of the Year’.

That pretty much sums up 2017.

There has been so much that has happened in the last 12 months I will probably forget something big.

But in a nutshell there have been a few common themes.

Awards. Elections. Growth. Team.

March was a key month for us as Kerry came on Board. Kerry hit the ground running, managing our built environment clients and within two months had secured us one of our most prestigious clients ever, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC).

By that time we were in the grips of election fever and purdah; running the press office for the Combined Authority and the election of a new Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough on 4th May, shortly followed by running the press office for the South East Cambridgeshire constituency for the General Election on 8th June.

In amongst a busy election period we also helped stage three events for Mister Jack; a client who is going to keep us very busy in 2018!

In May I was also very happy to be shortlisted in the ‘Young Business Person of the Year’ category in the EADT Business awards, and, after a tough interview, was pleased to finish runner-up in a very strong field!

In the summer we launched our new brand. We decided to lose the ‘PR’ as we offer so much more now. We also felt our branding didn’t reflect our market standing – we wanted something which cemented our place as a leading East of England agency. If you haven’t yet had a good explore of our new website, you should, we love it!

September came and along with it the most memorable and important night in the history of Prominent. The Chartered Institute of PR Awards for Thames, Anglia and Chiltern. We donned our frocks, supped on prosecco and came away with FOUR AWARDS!!

Obviously Agency of the Year was the big one, but I was very happy and proud of Abi who rightfully won the Young Communicator of the Year title, following in my footsteps after my win in 2010.

As the weather got colder and the hockey season started again so the growth continued, and in a flurry we won five new clients in the space of a month. It was also time to grow the team again and link up once again with an old friend.

Angharad joined us at the start of November. Myself, Ellen, Kerry and Abi were particularly excited to work with Angharad again following a period working together in previous life.

And we didn’t stop there, Emily brought the team to seven at the start of December.

We’ve ended the year in style, having our best ever month and announcing our charity of the year for 2018. We are excited to be providing pro-bono support for the Charlie Watkins Foundation; raising funds for and awareness of mental health in young people. Bring on 2018, we can’t wait to get started!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2017; clients, friends, family and strangers – it really does mean a lot to us.

Have a relaxing Christmas everyone, you all deserve it!”
